Harbord Diggers Redevelopment wins Residential Architecture – Multiple Housing, and Urban Design Awards at 2021 NSW Architecture Awards
Cerno is thrilled to report the Harbord Diggers Club Redevelopment was the successful winner of the Residential Architecture - Multiple Housing, and Urban Design awards at the 2021 NSW Architecture Awards. A very well deserved win for the project team involved in this project, particularly the trio of lead designers, Architectus, Chrofi and JMD Design.
From the very beginning, client Mounties Group had a clear vision for the Club to be redeveloped into a mixed-use intergenerational community hub, offering club, restaurant and retail facilities, fitness gymnasium, aquatic and recreation amenities, childcare and retirement living spaces. The resulting design to achieve this vision was remarkable. According to Jennifer Husman, Senior Associate at Architectus; “The outcome is a diverse set of facilities nestled gently into one of Sydney’s most iconic coastal headlands, cleverly arranged to celebrate and highlight, yet respect the natural environment and surrounding residents.”
The redevelopment of Harbord Diggers has previously won awards for the design interiors, winning the Sydney Design Awards 2019 hospitality design category. The club interiors were designed by Fender Katsalidis. The project was also awarded the Mixed-Use Development of the Year Award at the 2018 Urban Developer Awards and shortlisted for the 2019 Australian Interior Design Awards and the Urban Taskforce Awards 2020.
